- My Review: I purchased this wine at the Vintage Cellar, as I was very interested in tasting a riesling wine to see what all of the hype is about. This was one of the cheaper bottles, and as such I purchased it to give it a try. This wine has sparked an interest for me in trying more riesling wines, but this particular wine did not blow me away.
I tried this wine both chilled and room-temperature, and out of the two determined that I preferred this wine at room temperature. I detected a very overwhelming fruity and floral scent from this wine, as well as some citrus and honey undertones that I did not expect. This German riesling was pretty sweet, but lacked some acidity that I believe would have helped it. The taste was also citrus-y, which detracted from my enjoyment considerably. The finish on this wine was probably my biggest complaint, as it almost seemed metallic. After drinking a large glass of this wine, I was eager to put it down, as the aftertaste really began to become bothersome. However, all negative factors considered, it was definitely not the worst wine that I have drank, and it sparked an interest in what the riesling grape could be when perfected.
